Meth Addiction Treatment Program in San Diego, CA
Meth doesn’t ease its way into your life—it takes over fast. If you’re trying to slow down or stop and finding that you can’t, you may need more intensive support.
At Element Q Healing Center, substance use treatment, including support for meth addiction, is offered as part of our LGBTQIA+-affirming Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs in San Diego. More than just a “friendly” environment, our outpatient programs were designed by and for the LGBTQIA+ community. If past treatment environments have felt unwelcoming, unsafe, or like you had to leave parts of yourself at the door, this is a different kind of space. You belong here.
Signs You May Be Struggling With Meth Addiction
Meth affects the brain and body fast, and when you’re in the middle of it, everything can feel disorienting. The physical toll—disrupted sleep, changes in appetite, exhaustion—often piles on top of shame, anxiety, and a growing sense of spinning out of control. For many people in the LGBTQIA+ community, meth use is tied to social scenes, managing stress from discrimination, or simply finding shared spaces of belonging. None of that makes you broken. It makes you human.
Some experiences that often accompany meth addiction include:
- Difficulty stopping or cutting back, even when you want to
- Intense cravings or finding yourself obsessing over using
- Fatigue, depression, or irritability when you’re not using
- Using more than you planned, or in situations you didn’t expect
- Pulling back from relationships, work, or things that used to matter to you
- Using meth in sexual or intimate contexts, sometimes called chemsex, and finding it hard to separate the two
- Feeling like you need meth to feel normal, social, or okay
If you’re questioning your relationship with methamphetamine, it’s okay to ask for help. Contact our team to explore your options. We’ll verify your insurance benefits before you begin treatment so there are no surprises.
Why Choose Element Q for LGBTQIA+ Addiction Treatment
Trauma-Focused Clinical Excellence
We don’t just manage symptoms—we address root causes. Treatment includes evidence-based trauma modalities like EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and Internal Family Systems, with neuropsychological testing at intake to ensure accurate diagnosis from day one. Your treatment plan evolves with you.
Integrated Psychiatric & Holistic Care
Our board-certified psychiatrist is on-site nearly every day, collaborating directly with your therapists. Medication decisions are made together, with full transparency. We integrate acupuncture, sound healing, and trauma-informed yoga as core treatment—not optional extras.
All Recovery Pathways Honored
We don’t push one-size-fits-all recovery from substance use and chemsex addiction. Element Q integrates Conscious Recovery principles and welcomes all pathways to healing—12-step, SMART, Refuge, Dharma, and others. Treatment isn’t religious or dogmatic. Clients choose the path that resonates with them.
By and For the LGBTQIA+ Community
Every therapist and case manager at Element Q identifies as LGBTQIA+. This isn’t “LGBTQ-friendly” care—it’s structured, clinically rigorous treatment delivered by people who understand minority stress, healthcare discrimination, and how trauma and identity intersect.
Is PHP or IOP The Right Level of Support for Me?
PHP and IOP are designed for people who need intensive, structured support but don’t require around-the-clock monitoring. If you’re medically stable and have a safe place to return to each night, one of these levels of care may be the right fit.
PHP and IOP might be a good fit if you’re:
- Trying to stop or reduce meth use and struggling to do it on your own
- Experiencing anxiety, depression, or mood instability alongside substance use
- Navigating a dual diagnosis—meaning mental health and substance use are happening together
- Stepping down from inpatient or residential treatment and needing continued structure
- Finding that past treatment felt unwelcoming, unsafe, or didn’t address your identity
- Navigating meth use that’s become tied to sex or intimacy and wanting support to address both
- Ready for something more intensive than individual therapy alone
- Someone with work, family, or other responsibilities you can’t walk away from—but who needs accountability and structure to stay on track
If you’re unsure whether outpatient treatment is the right step, our compassionate team can help. Your information is always kept private and confidential.
What Treatment for Meth Addiction Looks Like at Element Q
About Our San Diego Addiction & Mental HEalth Treatment Programs
Element Q offers two levels of outpatient care depending on where you are and what you need. Both are structured, trauma-focused, and designed for LGBTQIA+ individuals—not adapted for the community as an afterthought, but built for it from the start.
PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program)
PHP is the highest level of care offered at Element Q Healing Center. Treatment programming runs Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, and includes daily group therapy, multiple individual therapy sessions each week, on-site psychiatric care, and holistic modalities. It's designed for LGBTQIA+ individuals who need consistent, intensive support while still living at home.
IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program)
IOP runs mornings from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, either three or five days per week, depending on your needs. It offers the same LGBTQIA+-affirming, trauma-focused clinical environment as PHP, with more flexibility to maintain work, school, or other responsibilities. Many clients transition from PHP to IOP as they stabilize and build confidence in their recovery.

How We Approach Meth Addiction Treatment
At Element Q Healing, substance use, mental health, trauma history, and identity are treated together—not in isolation. Here’s what that looks like in practice:
- Conscious Recovery — addiction is treated as a response to pain, not a moral failing
- Trauma-focused care — trauma is actively treated through somatic therapies, EMDR, and nervous system regulation
- All paths to healing honored — 12-step participation is never required
- Structured accountability — drug testing is part of the program as one component of a comprehensive, individualized plan

Element Q Healing Center is accredited by The Joint Commission (JCAHO), the national benchmark for healthcare quality and patient safety. This accreditation reflects rigorous review of our clinical practices, safety protocols, and treatment outcomes.

Insurance and Paying For Treatment

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a day like at a meth rehab facility?
At Element Q, a day in PHP includes structured group therapy, individual therapy sessions, holistic modalities like somatic healing, sound therapy, and acupuncture, and time with your treatment team. PHP runs 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and you’ll return home each evening. IOP run from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and follows a similar structure on a condensed schedule.
2. How long should someone stay in meth addiction treatment?
There’s no universal length of time for healing from meth addiction. Length of treatment depends on the individual—their history, the severity of use, co-occurring mental health conditions, and how they’re responding to care. At Element Q, your treatment team reviews your progress regularly and adjusts your plan based on how you’re actually doing, not a predetermined timeline.
3. How is drug rehab paid for?
Most PHP and IOP programs are covered by insurance because they’re classified as medically necessary treatment. At Element Q, we accept most major insurance plans and handle coverage verification before you begin, so there are no surprises about costs. If you have specific questions about coverage or out-of-pocket costs, our team is available to walk you through your options.
4. Do you get in trouble for going to rehab?
No. Federal law—specifically the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)—provides protections for people seeking treatment for substance use disorders. Most employers cannot legally terminate someone for voluntarily entering a treatment program. Our case management team is highly experienced with these kinds of questions and can help you navigate workplace or school conversations, if that’s a concern, you can focus on your care without added stress.
5. Is LGBTQ+ affirming meth addiction treatment available?
Yes. At Element Q, affirming support is the foundation of treatment philosophy. Our PHP and IOP programs were created specifically for LGBTQIA+ individuals, and every member of our clinical team identifies as part of the community. That means your identity is understood, respected, and central to your care from the very start. You won’t need to explain yourself or filter your experiences to get the support you deserve.
